As we begin to regain our normalcy, the pandemic and school closures for 19+ months have taken a severe toll on our educational systems and most importantly, our youth. Even before COVID-19, lower-income and first-generation students faced major barriers to getting into and completing college due to poorly-resourced schools and communities. The pandemic has only intensified these barriers.

New Roadblocks

While schools and universities focus on keeping students healthy and addressing learning loss, students are reporting the following 
new challenges:

• Affording college while being responsible for supporting their families
• Struggling with their mental health
• Juggling increased family responsibilities, workloads, and schoolwork
• Lack of support from schools and universities, who are understaffed and under-resourced

During these uncertain times, our students need Fulfillment Fund’s support more than ever to ensure they remain on track toward their degrees.

Now more than ever, students need adults, advocates, educators, and counselors to support them through these challenges, to listen and reassure them that their dreams are not deferred, but instead waiting to be realized. 

Fulfillment Fund has adjusted our programs to meet these realities head-on and continues to provide meaningful strategic guidance to our amazing students and their families.

• Growing our College Access and College Success staff to support students
• Creating intentional spaces to address social and emotional concerns 
• Meeting students where they are, in person or virtual, to ensure they can realize their goals
